Roshan - the urdu wellbeing chatbot
I was the chief developer of Pakistan's first mental health chatbot, which converses in Urdu. My interest in Psychology and Computing was noticed by the Pakistan Association of Clinical Psychologists, the only registered body of psychologists in Pakistan. My friend, Muneeba, and I worked with accredited psychologists at the organization to formulate this bot. It is undergoing further training and review and will be launched next year under the name "roshan.ai". The following document acknowledges my effort in the project.
My research projects
My research interests lie at the intersection of Psychology & Computer Science as well as understanding the LGBTQIA+ movement in Pakistan in the same context. I have authored one research paper with Prof. Dr. Muneeba Shakeel of COMSATS University Lahore, which is set to be published in December 2024. The acceptance letter is shown below.
Additionally, I have authored another research paper that is currently under review by my supervisor at the University of Management & Technology. My 3rd research paper is being written in conjunction with Cambridge's New International Project Qualification program.
My mangas
I am a self-taught mangaka (manga artist). My art style comprises of combining multiple disciplines of manga art from different areas in one. My preferred style is drawing in the Korean manhwa style.
I do not draw eyes in my mangas because windows to the soul are overrated - my characters share their stories through the environment, body language, and unspoken gaze. Any characters with eyes or not conforming to my style are most often the evil of my plot
The stated images are from my latest manga "Triangle," which is only available to people close to me. In the future, however, I do plan on releasing it to the wider public.
The following is the preprint of "The Role of AI-Driven Tools for Early Detection
of Mental Health Disorders: A Systematic Review". It was accepted for publication in the peer-reviewed Journal for Research in Psychology's December 2024 edition.
The following is an abstract of the literature review of my supervised research paper, "The Impact of Technology on Pakistan's LGBTQIA+ community's psychological development." I am not allowed to share the qualitative part of the research yet as it is under review by my supervisor.
I coauthored and illustrated "Khud Ko Samjho" (Urdu for "Understand Yourself") with Psych Central to ensure self-recognition of emotional needs and mental adversities faced by many orphans and vulnerable children in Pakistan. Psych Central is a group founded by me, two of my colleagues, and Dream Education. We engage in projects across Pakistan to spread awareness on issues on social psychology. The following is the E-Book version of Khud Ko Samjho.
We are engaged in a city-wide drive in Lahore to distribute this book while effectively engaging with our target population in a meaningful manner. Our efforts have been recognized on a national scale.
"Khud Ko Samjho"
Recently, my colleagues, Kashmala Khan & Sayeda Muneeba Husaain, and I had the pleasure of visiting Sanjan Nagar Trust School in an impoverished Christian neighborhood of Lahore for a storytelling session. We got the opportunity to showcase our book Khud ko Samjho (Urdu for "Understand Yourself) which explains the concepts of mental health, protective psychology, and general well-being to children in a kid-friendly language.
November 17 - The nationally acclaimed news agency The Daily Notable also covered our endeavors in distributing Khud Ko Samjho at Sanjan Nagar High School. The Daily Notable is an independent English newspaper in Lahore You may access this article by clicking here.
